INDEPENDENT DAYS FESTIVAL:
A SHORT INTRODUCTION TO THE EVENT

Independent Days Festival is one of the most attended musical events in Italy, having sold out in previous years. Now in its sixth year, this year's line-up includes some incredible artists from the international alternative, indie, rock and punk scenes.

The event, as usual, will be held the first weekend of September (Saturday, 4th of Sept, and Sunday 5th of Sept, at Arena Parco Nord of Bologna). Saturday's headliners the mythical SONIC YOUTH (legendary band of American indie rock), will be joined by FRANZ FERDINAND (band of the moment with their 80's punk funk sound, reminiscent of Talking Heads), THE LIBERTINES (English rock pop band, taking the stage a few days after the release of their new album, The Libertines), MARK LANEGAN BAND (a return to Italy for one of the most famous American singers, ex Screaming Trees and Queens of the Stone Age), dEUS (one of the more interesting bands of the art-pop European scene, performing live after years of silence), piano-based KEANE (pop phenomenon of the moment, with comparisons to Coldplay and UK top 10 mainstays), MONDO GENERATOR (Nick Oliveri's project, ex Queens of the Stone Ages), RADIO 4 (one of the most important NYC bands of the post punk scene), the Italian band TRE ALLEGRI RAGAZZI MORTI, along with The Blueskins, Colour Of Fire, Feist, Morticia's Lovers, Friday Star, and Madbones.

Sunday's headliner includes VELVET REVOLVER (the new superband making lots of noise this summer, composed of GUNS'N'ROSES alumni - Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum - the famous and tormented singer of Stone Temple Pilots - Scott Weiland - and Dave Kusher of the Wasted Youth. Released a short time ago, their first CD has already sold over 700,000 copies) and THE DARKNESS (glam rock from England, at the top of UK and USA charts for months). Other acts include LARS FREDERIKSEN (Rancid) & THE BASTARDS, dkt/MC5 (historical band of 60's Motor City Rock, who will be joined at Independent Days by Evan Dando of The Lemonheads, Mark Arm of Mudhoney and Nick Royale of Hellacopters), AUF DE MAUR (ex Hole and Smashing Pumpkins bassist), The Dirtbombs, Flogging Molly, New Found Glory, Coheed & Cambria, Yellowcard, Persiana Jones, Derozer, Thee S.T.P., Forty Winks, Vanilla Sky, Wet Tones, The No One and Ghetto Ways.
